For sake of First Interview!

My eyes, caught an ad in the newspaper [unfortunately] , of a Job Fair which was to be held in Pune on 8th and 9th June. I knew what was coming next. 8th June dawned and I found myself dragging out of the bed to catch the early morning bus en-route to Pune.

Boarding the state road transport bus for a 6-7 hour long journey itself was a head ache but more things were in store for me. After 5 hours into the journey my friend Sai who was already there at the venue informed me that there was just one company looking for mechanical candidates and that too with experience.

Damn! I was totally frustrated but I had nothing to do. Especially, after missing the only refreshment halt [I fell asleep] I was in dire need of a restroom. Soon I reached Nashik Faata and took an auto to the venue, without any relief yet!

I struggled to maintain my composure as I looked for the openings and other details at the venue. And I had to shell out 200 Bucks for the registration and other formalities. The receptionist kept warning me that the amount was non-refundable and insisting to go through the details again and I was like "HURRY UP!!!"

Soon I completed the foolish formalities and rushed inside to find Sai waiting for me! But without saying a word I rushed to the restroom! 'Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh' I moaned as I had an orgasmic relief after so long! [Phew]

Soon we were engrossed in tales of job search and of course seeing the sea of candidates fighting for the same 4 posts that I and Sai wished to try for. I submitted my resume somehow and was waiting for my name to be called. After waiting for nearly an hour or two, I was still not called. Little later I realized how brute the fight was. It was as if those guys were trying to rush out from a sinking ship. But then I mustered my courage to dive in the pool of candidates and just that moment their lunch break was announced.

I lost my cool and decided to leave.Coming out from there I met two other friends of mine there, Rahul and Rushi. After ages I was able to talk freely....rather BAKAR in the typically Nagpuri language of
" Mamaaa!...kya bolte! " , " Hau kya!" ; " Ja na bey" ; " Garammm " ; " Gehra be "

Later in the evening, we bumped with another friend of ours Trupti! I don't know but it felt like some sort of Bharat Milap! When you are in an unknown city and you meet your old pals it feels great!

Soon we got ourselves some food parcels from Mac-D and left for the flat! God knows what's so special about Mac-D burgers. It that has more tomatoes than anything else! Yuck!

Skipping to the next morning I and Sai again went to the Job Fair. But this time surprisingly, as I soon as I got there I was called in for the interview! The big thing - My first ever interview!

Once inside I was contemplating where to look at! His bald shining head or the attractive girl sitting on the desk across or on my resume. I was confused but then he asked me to take the seat!

Interviewer: Tell me about yourself
Me: My friends call me Rex, I was born and brought up in Nashik...and blah blah blah!

Interview: Ok... Ok... From where did u complete your graduation?

[Dang!! How dare he interrupt me! I had been preparing that answer since so long! Grrrr x-( ]

Anyhow,  the interview continued and soon I realized that he was just cross-checking my resume and my answers! I was cursing him through my breath I mean why should he bother about my hobbies or my current residency more than my skills. [Not that I'm an expert]

But more blunders followed when he asked me about my salary expectations.[Beta mann me laadu foota- I thought]. I said 18-20 K! He asked if I meant CTC and I said yes . He cunningly smiled [just like a typical bollywood villain] and said that I would  be called soon for next round.

Later Sai explained CTC means the entire package and gross means the one which I would get in my hands! I pretended that I didn't bother. [I felt like kicking my own ass]

Nevertheless, I was still happy because for availing myself an interview I had to go through a day long wait midst a crowd of 400-500 candidates and such a long peril. I realized that Job-Fairs like these are totally crap and better avoid them in future rather than wasting your precious pocket money on it.
[I wish I had chosen to watch After-Earth instead of doing the registration :'( ]
Cheers!
