The Fall of the Indian Television!

How often do you find in situations like these???

It happens often right?

Not just these new serials, it started way back from the times of 'K*hani Gh*r Gh*r ki' and all. The entire childhood of ours was ruined by these stale shows. The trend still continues in most Indian house holds albeit with different names.

In the name of entertainment what do we get to see these days is a hell lot of garishly over dressed women with loud make up trying to ruin her son's married life or a gorgeous looking vamp wanting to snatch away all the wealth of her in-laws and what not.

To cap it off, there are the dramatic camera angles! Every time a heavy dialogue is delivered, dialogues even deadlier than - mai tumhare bacche ki maa banne wali hu [I'm pregnant with your child], all hell breaks loose. The thundering noise in the background, the camera swooping in and shaking on the horrible faces present in the scene from various directions and effects. Holy Cow! That's complete crap! X-(

The story just doesn't end there. Someone ever survived the daily soap called 'Uttar*n'? Every night at dinner, I [and I suppose most of us] have to bear the grunt of the leading lady of weeping oceans of tears remembering the past in black and white effect.

OR if the telephone starts ringing, the drum roll begins as if she answers the call someone will shoot her right through the telephone.

Or in an extremely melodramatic scene when for some reason the leading lady is sad [which is most of the times], she starts walking with small baby steps and lo! The gloomy saddening raga of Aaaa aa aa aa aaaaa [Sing that in a particular tone] begins playing in the background. Damn! And it simply doesn't stop till another commercial begins! :'(

Coming to the commercials that's another tragedy. I don't understand what's the obsession with getting fair or younger looking glowing skin or how the girls over-react on that one "Computer Generated" pimple on her wax like face! They simply can't stop nagging about their problems and like a God's Gift they suddenly find a beauty product and TA DAAAA! The problem vanishes - COMPLETELY! Crap again!

What's more these pathetic ad commercials will consume nearly 12-15 minutes in a show of half hour and nearly 25-30 mins an hour if you're watching a movie. There's no way you can watch a complete movie on TV unless you're literally glued & tied to the sofa and someone snatches the remote away from you. o_O

Then comes the so called comedy programs on air. The directors or the writers whoever is behind the script feels like if the actors on the screen dance and sing mindlessly the audience will laugh hysterically. Most of these serials are filled with things like these rather than a good story. Just look at 'F-R-I-E-N-D-S' or 'The Big Bang Theory' or 'Two and a Half Men'. I don't think there will be a moment wherein you will feel like switiching the channel. And don't think I am appreciating them because the shows are from the USA, they actually HAVE good plots!

Then comes the news channels. Its like they are here to spread superstitions in the society. On one hand they will criticize Nirmal Baba and on the other hand in the morning they feature shows like 'Apke taare' [Your stars], 'Jaaniye Apka Bhavishya' [Know your future] and what not! Yuck!

Plus, they are like peeping toms who have sworn to disrupt the lives of film stars. Just give it a thought -
Will it really affect our lives if Salman Khan gets married or not?

Or should we really bother if Ranbeer Kapoor shares a good rapport with his co-stars or even has any relationship with them?

Or why on earth should we bother if an actress decides to wear a bikini on screen? WHY??

Then they telecast the ever growing wars between the senior ministers of various political parties and keep on debating on issues without arriving at any concrete solution. What's the use of it then?

When I discuss it with anyone or someone who loves watching the TV, I would just get one answer :
"If you don't like it just switch the channels"

Or "If you don't like the programs simply don't watch it."

I do exactly the same, to keep away from the television as much as possible but whenever I have to confront if  you can very well guess what follows! So switch to the Internet and its angels like YouTube or daily-motion if you really want to see something without any interruptions and to your hearts content.

Cheers!
