Jhingoor Ke Haath Angoor!

My mobile was buzzing like mad. As I tried to open my eyes I cursed the one who had dialed my number. I felt like disconnecting the call but all of a sudden my sleep vanished. It was the HR Executive.

I hurriedly answered the call, got out of the bed and an down to the parking fearing that the call might get disconnected. It was the first time when the girls in the locality noticed me. Why wouldn't they? 

" Monday se join kar sakte ho kya? "

[Will you be able to start working from Monday?]

Without even thinking a second as if I reflezed I answered,

" Haan Sir! Bilkul aa jaunga mai!

[Dfinitely Sir! I will be there!]

"Okay! Monday 8.30 ko apne saare original documents ke saath aa jana fir!", he replied and hung up the call.

[Okay! Come on Monday morning 8.30 with all your original documents]

I jumped with joy, danced, sang and talked aloud to  myself, called so many people and finally when I calmed down I noticed that the entire colony had been watching my antics! I stopped and sprinted towards the apartment and thus began my fast paced journey towards Nagpur. 

Fast Forwarding to 9th Dec. I was standing outside the main entrance of the massive plant. I cast a glance on both the sides of the road. It was empty and cold. I breathed deep,closed my eyes and within a moment I re-lived all the enjoyment, all the parties, adventures, relations,mistakes, victories, intimate moments, my friends and my parents. It was my 1st day of job life, 1st day of stepping into adulthood, 1st day of being independent...

That moment was simply indescribable. I was overwhelmed and wonderstruck. Part of me was bursting with happiness, part of me with sadness and my body wanted to go back and sleep like anything. I had a long sleepless night afterall o_O

Then I stepped forward and finally leaving all my past right outside the gate I walked in. Okay okay, too much melodrama I know, I just meant to say that I had to surrender my mobile at the security post, all the madness was still inside my head. XD

Once inside, I found another guy who too was recruited with me. He too was a Mech Engineer and had been selected for Quality Assurance Dept. We got along pretty quickly and soon we were dragging ourselves between never-ending forms and mark-sheet verification and much more. It was even delighting to see that within the plant itself they made arrangements for opening our accounts in HDFC bank. Within minutes we were given a cheque book, an ATM card and even internet banking facilities. It all felt like living a dream! We were very excited by then. And in the back of my mind I was screaming - SALARY SALARY SALARY! Dude, what's the package? Unfortunately the HR couldn't hear it.

After the lunch, we were introduced to the rules of the plant, necessary instructions and timings. And then we were sent to our respective departments and introductions followed here and there. Did I mention about the entrance to the department! It made me feel as if I was in some science fiction movie. The doors open automatically with authorized personnel finger print scans and then there's a chamber inside which blows high velocity air to remove dust from our body. Finally, once we are inside we have to put on an apron and then move ahead! I suddenly imagined myself being the real-life Dexter. More was about to come. I was on cloud nine when they told me that I would be working there and also get a chance to work on Composites or in other terms Carbon Fibre! :-D

Time flew very fast that day but one question still remained unanswered - What was the remuneration? The Salary? It still remains undisclosed. Although when I asked about it albeit shamelessly, he assured us that within a week, when the internal audit would be over, we would be formally inducted into the plant and that the package was going to be a handsome one. My joys knew no bounds after hearing that.

Upon returning my friends asked me why was I so bothered about the salary! I wish only if I could make them understand how badly I want to buy myself  a GEAR-WALI CYCLE! ;-)
