Damn! I have a crush on her! Engineering days :-) [Part 2]

I had been staying in Pune, since the last week near Sinhgad College Vadgaon. It means most of the time the near by food outlets are filled with college students. One particular day when I was having lunch, I was interrupted by an upraoar from a small group on the other side. They were teasing one of the boys, when his crush appeared on the road walking towards the same restaurant!

" Be teri wali aa rhi!! "
" Bhabhi aa rhi re shaant raho sab log "
" Aaj to propose kar hi daal usko "
" Bhabhi Ma samaan hoti hai, aukaat me raho "
[Hey, look your crush is coming,
Everyone keep quiet, she belongs to him and so on...]

Every one except him was chattering and he was blushing quietly, trying hard to deal with his racing heartbeats! :-P How many of you had been a victim of this or had been a part of this? Everyone I suppose! ;-) :-P

A few days ago, I got my laptop fixed. My joys knew no bounds when I found my treasure of photographs back! And with that came a few tales that remained untold till now.

I found a pic of her, standing right besides me [again in a Saree] and I had my hand on her shoulder. It was as if she was my doll and anyone who would dare to even look at her would be thrashed hard. [ I know I'm exaggerating it....In fact before that snap was taken I nervously asked her for permission to do so...Don't laugh at me please o_O]

Then there was another a pic in which we were in a studio class room of Elan department. Those class rooms you know which has those shiny slippery tiles. She was hopping like Mario, here and there, and all of a sudden she slipped. She somehow balanced herself on a table top but that too gave away soon. And bang! The next moment she was on the floor. Every one around started laughing at her and no one was there to help her.

Me being me, went ahead and offered her my hand. She looked into my eyes, smiled and placed her hand in my hand. I helped her to compose herself. That was the first time, I guess, our hands met. I know its not anything to brag about but every one must have had such moments in their life, which still brings smile on their faces, isn't it?

Have you ever dreamt of carrying your crush in your arms on a path of roses? [ Please exclude Shah Rukh's movies..I beg]. Well it had happened in our college canteen and I was the protagonist however it was neither with my girlfriend and nor it was a path of roses!

I was in second year. It was a fine sunny afternoon and we were in college canteen, bunking lectures as usual. I bought a dairy milk. My mouth was already watering as I tore open the cover. I was about to munch it but before I could do so it was gone from my hands. Who else could it be! [The girl in brown saree again]. I calmly asked her to return it but she was in a mood for fun that day. She refused cunningly. Soon it turned out to be a Tom and Jerry chase around the canteen! But it didn't take long to catch her and the moment I got hold of her I lifted her with my arms.

Imagine the situation with a hell lot of crowd in a small canteen. Yes that's what exactly happened. Though I felt heroic on that feat but it wasn't a pleasant experience for her. Everyone had glued their eyes on us and there was an uproar all around. Sensing that she felt uncomfortable I let her go. She calmly returned the chocolate to me and went to a near by bench and sat quietly. I knew it was the calm before the storm. That day she didn't talk to me and I realized I had crossed my limits. Something felt missing if she stopped talking.
A few days later she told me how badly she was offended. I was clouded by a sense of guilt but I somehow pacified her.. I don't know how she remained calm after that incident instead of slapping me there itself. That was another reason why I felt so strongly for her!

This tale is from the time when I was in the final year of engineering. There was a junior whom I used to like very much. [No, no, not the one I had mentioned in the previous blog] I had even planned to propose her. There was a departmental dinner party at a restaurant. I had planned to tell her about my feelings after the dinner while everyone would be gone but alas! She came in with a guy, arms in arms. He looked like a spoilt brat though taller, stronger  and fatter than me [I suddenly remember the Bournvita Ad] . All my hopes were washed away and the only thing that was going on in my mind was..

Chhan se jo tuta koi sapna....
Jag soona soona lage...
Jag soona soona lage re...

I soon realized it was time to find someone new. But by then it was too late as the semesters were approaching. Time flew by so quickly and semesters came! In the very first exam, they allotted us a female invigilator. When she entered the hall our jaws fell to the ground. We had never been so lucky to have a female invigilator during exams. But this time it was like, " Beta, mann me laddu foota! " [Son, you seem so happy] She looked stunning in that floral salwar suit and her pony waving and dancing with every step of her! Beautiful she was!

There were murmurs among all the boys in the class ," Bhai aaj toh back ata!" [Today we are going to fail]. However our happiness was short lived. As the exam progressed we realized how loud mouthed she was, yelling at even the smallest noise in class and threatening to take away the answer sheets for no reason. She was the typical type of strict invigilator, you know!

Three hours passed. The time was over. I had wasted most of my time ogling at her and wondering if I could really ask her out for a date. But the bell rang and I was jolted back to reality. I submitted the half scribbled, half decorated answer sheet and left the hall praying that I should not fail in that.

When I told Mom, about all these stories she placed her hand on my back and said that I should not hurry on these things ever. And she assured me that in the long run if I couldn't find anyone then they would find a match for me. Even I look forward for the same now....

After all, "Papa ne Bana Di Jodi!" is the best bet!
[Dad, made my match]

Cheers!
