Picture Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Dost!

A few days ago I had been to Nagpur for the recruitment test of Engineers India Ltd. I am glad that I chose Nagpur as the centre.

“Yaar, mai tere ghar par stay kar sakta hu kya 1-2 din? “ I asked my friend.
[Bro, can I stay at your place for a day or two?]
“Paaji, puchna padta kya re! Bindaas aa ja! “ , he joyfully replied
[Do you really need to ask this! Come along, no problem at all!]

As I stepped my foot on the soil of Nagpur after nearly 5 months [sorry for sounding so overly melodramatic] and I was welcomed by a cool breeze. It felt like home; in fact Nagpur is home away from home. I soon reached my friend’s place and they welcomed me so beautifully. I was touched. It felt so good to meet them after so many days.

About an hour later I and my friend went out together. We met another friend of ours who lent me his bike.

“Yaar mujhe teri bike chahiye thi yaar! “, I ask him slowly
[Buddy, could I have your bike for a day?]
“Are bilkul! Le ke jaa! Bhai hai tu pagle!” he says this and gives me a tight hug
[ Sure! Take her out! You’re my brother!]

I am always stunned as to how they never asked me any question and trust me to no ends. It makes me feel blessed! :-D

I took his bike and headed towards the flat where we used to stay during our graduation days. I soon reached the place.   I wanted to go inside so badly but I couldn't as the gates were locked. :’( I spent a few moments there basking in the glory of memories and then I left for college.

As I was coming down from the building I realized something very important that moment - Things which are beautiful always come to an end and that’s the glory of it. One of my friends once told me,
“Those were the most beautiful days. But kabhi na kabhi khatm hona hi tha! Tu aisa soch na aage aur bhi kuch accha hoga!”
[But it had to end sometime or the other. Why don’t you realize that something better will occur in the future? ]

What a feeling it was to enter the college after so many days! My heart was racing as if it was my first day there. I still couldn’t understand why it happened. I collected the cheque after my name which was rewarded to me by the college for our final year project work.  And there I happened to meet one of my old friends who is now pursuing M.Tech from the same institution.

None of us bothered how the time flew when we two rolled out our cans of laughter after such a long time. Things which never got disclosed during engineering days all of a sudden came out of the box amusing both of us. From the news of friends getting married just after the graduation to the couples getting divorced; new stories kept unfolding one after the other.

Then we went around the college building only to find the old canteen demolished, the canteen staff changed, rooms still being painted, PCs being replaced by Macs and the worst and best of all the good for nothing teachers still carrying that arrogance with themselves and not bothering to respond to your greetings.

Soon after, I went to Empress City Mall to meet two of my most beautiful friends. We get along so well with each other that we totally forget about all our worries. Spending the evening together was so relaxing [It feels great to see people leaving their seats to find some quiet place when we get down to our antics]. As we straddled round the mall doing crazy things like running on the escalator in opposite direction, pushing each other over the railings, teasing each other about our non-existent and existent lovers, I felt as if nothing has changed and life’s still the same as it was a few months ago.

In the late evening I met my old roomie. It all started with a bear hug which was followed by his tales of adventures at his new work place which made him stand all day with some pain in a** people around him  and how life went on after graduation. It had been already two hours at his place but he had hardly started. I couldn't wait any longer as I was getting late to get back to my friend’s place and had to leave soon but we committed each other to meet at HAL!

The next day after that particular exam [which by the way was much better than I had expected] was over I spent the rest of the noon in the company of my dearest friends of mine from my old dance group. What a wonderful time we had while searching for a place to hang out in the scorching sun. But it ultimately paid off when we were treated by a friend at Dominoz [Read that as – Friend ko loot lena – To rob a friend]

The best part of being with your friends is that you can simply discuss all your problems & foolish adventures with them and the solutions that are derived after that are even more pathetic than your present situation. So you get ready with a new vigor to face your troubles.

I have a problem – I’m too sentimental and can’t let go things very easily but this trip helped me reset my mind. No matter what you do there will always be things which would be best unknown to you and come out only when the time is right. No matter how hard you want to things to stay in place, time will make them move with its own pace.  Life goes on, things change, places change, time changes, nothing waits for you. The only thing that remains are the sweet memories and of course the few special moments that you get to spend with your friends after a long time to create new memories!

[ My phone is ringing and do you know what tone is it - Carnival of Rust]

Cheers!
